It’s been a very long day.
I woke up to this morning’s thunderstorm, close to 5:30am. I had slept very little, because of trying to complete certain things before leaving to New York this weekend (we’re going to meet with two good friends).
At around 6:50 I was already at the office, ready to attend a thesis proposal for which I’m part of the committee. The day went by without much novelty aside from the events that were planned for the orientation days for new students. Classes will start on Monday, and the lack of silence in the hallways is starting to be missed.
I came back home at 8pm, and we decided to prepare gazpacho with the tomatoes that we got from the CSA. Very good idea.
After dinner, the laundry, and some clean up. And while I wait for the dryer cycle to finish, a little bit of time to write and reflect on the day.
Tomorrow we leave on the 4:15pm flight, and everything seems to point to us experiencing hurricane Irene in New York during the weekend. We may loose one of the flights, and so we will need to rent a car, and drive in the rain, and tell each other stories for 6 or 7 hours, and miss home, and think about how much it was all worth the hassle. All of that.
At least in New York I can get dominican sancocho, which goes very well with the rain.
And speaking of the rain, this morning when I woke up I went straight to the guitar and recorded this clip below. Since it was raining, I also recorded the sound of the rain and mixed both things. I apologize for the untuned, six a.m. voice:

Tengo una propuesta. Presto servicios para hacer versiones de canciones (covers) a petición del público. Pero antes de dar los detalles, primero quiero hacer una historia para ponerlo todo en contexto:
